About your next lifetime
Leaving your liberation from harmful habits, defects, and addictions for the next life is a terrible decision.
Postponing your release generates terrible karmic inertia. It generates the most treacherous slavery of all: the addiction to staying the same, lying in the nauseating mud of the pleasure of paralysis.
To act is hard. Doing the right thing is unpleasant. Correcting oneself instead of correcting others is the true ordeal that leads to the most sacred death of all.
The death of oneself as the infection of the soul.
If these words don't resonate, you're in the wrong community. It is not about being Buddhist, a yogi, monk, Christian, or lay practitioner. It is about ceasing to be harmful action and becoming correct action.
When?
Now.
Not tomorrow. Even less so in your next lifetime. You don’t have to believe in reincarnation. Harmful consequences can strike in this lifetime. If you believe in reincarnation you are headed straight to a worse life than this because your karmic inertia will follow you like a tsunami.
Think carefully about what you are doing right now. This is a warning.
The practice is simple: stop being harmful action now. Become Right Action now.
Bodily, verbal, and mental Right Action.
Harmful action is laziness, anger, codependency, impatience, arrogance, seeking validation, poor financial management, lying, procrastinating, being disorganized, making plans and not executing them, falling and not getting up, falling and blaming the whole world and not taking responsibility for oneself, consuming harmful substances, neglecting your physical health, eating poorly, having a sedentary lifestyle, being sadistic when you point out mistakes, being stupid, being dishonest...
Can you stop being completely harmful now? Can you eliminate all your defects right now?
Of course not. What you can do is choose a harmful habit right now and cut its head off. Once the illness disappears, you move on to the next one.
Don't think about it.
It’s ok to be afraid. It’s a sign that your days as a harmful action are numbered.
Does it bother you to think about “what you have to do”? That's nothing compared to what's coming if you stay the same. Because believe me, it gets worse.
And if you have already stopped being harmful action and are already becoming Right Action, do not slow down. Keep cutting off your head so you can stop paralyzing yourself with never-ending thoughts.
If you've known me for a while, you know I'm not saying anything new. Our Right Action strikes like lightning, like an anvil that sinks to the bottom of the sea.
Nothing stops our correct action because we detest the stench of indiscipline, the infection of the heart, and the contaminated mind.
Nothing stops our right action because we aspire to become gifts to the world, to fix what can be fixed, to heal open wounds, and to build indestructible kingdoms within and outside of ourselves.
This Dharma does not pretend. This Dharma isn’t dead. This Law burns and illuminates even the darkest corners of your universe.
It's time.
